Smart Grid Solutions’ DM-1 door-mounted transceiver works in tandem with the Recon underground fault indicator. Due to difficulties in projecting a radio signal from inside a transformer casing to the outside,
the cable-mounted FI-3C fault indicator transmits data through a fiber optic cable to the door-mounted DM-1 transceiver, which then uses a low-power cellular module to transmit that data. The DM-1 sends notifications on fault events, FCI reset due to system re-energization or time reset, and low battery. With its low-power cellular module and power-efficient design, the DM-1 is designed to provide ten years of
field life on a single battery.
